When you became a born again believer in Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit came to dwell on the inside of you.  The fruit of the Spirit came with him.  So, we have all 9 fruits of the Spirit dwelling on the inside of us.  The fruit of love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness, meekness and self-control.  Don't let the devil lie to you and tell you that you have nothing to offer
or that you will never amount to anything.  God wants the fruit of the Spirit to be manifested through
us, so we can show others the love of Jesus Christ.  People need to see our fruit.  The bible says a
good tree cannot bear bad fruit and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.  Jesus said you will know them
by their fruit.  Humility is one of the 9 fruits of the Spirit.  Meekness means to be humble.
Col 3:12-14 (NIV) says Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves
with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.  Bear with each other and forgive one
another if any of you has a grievance against someone.  Forgive as the Lord forgave you.  And over
all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.  The fruit of love comes
first, then the rest of the fruits will follow.  You can't be humble and selfish at the same time.
A humble person puts others before themselves.  They enjoy making other people happy.  They are
gentle and kind.  Matthew 5:5 says blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth.  Jesus was
very meek.  He said for I am meek and lowly in heart.  Most people consider meekness to mean
weakness, but this characteristic is of great price in the sight of God.  Jesus said whosoever shall humble himself as a little child, the same is great in the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 18:4
The traits of a prideful person are arrogant, conceited, snobbish, vane, selfish and boastful.
We don't want to be prideful, these are not the characteristics of Jesus Christ.  We are supposed to be followers of Jesus, that means we act like him, we say what he says and do what he does.  God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. Pride comes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall. The spirit of pride did not come from God so don't let it overtake you.  Satan was full of pride, he was very rebellious, that's why God kicked him out of heaven.  Without humility we would not be able to obey God's commandments.  How can we be willing to do the Lord's will if our hearts are full of pride.  Humbleness is a requirement for repentance.  You have to be humble in order to repent of your sins and acknowledge that you are a sinner in need of a savoir.  Jesus wants us to be like him, to love one another and allow the fruit of the Spirit to flow through us and walk in humility.
